A review that describes his work well: “A locked paradise, the lost wings (innocence?) are often recurring motifs in the photographic work of Vincent Rijs.

They are tranquil images, captured with a warm, earthy color palette, placed in a melancholy contemplative frame, sometimes with a hint of surrealism.

The beautiful mystical atmosphere he evokes is somewhat uncertain with a musing, often wistful longing for another world that is also very recognizable in a strange way.

Reflection and mirroring are the motifs in Vincent Rijs’ photographic work.

Tranquil images with a warm color palette placed in a melancholy frame, sometimes with a touch of surrealism. He finds his inspiration in the dramatic chiaroscuro of the painters of the Golden Age, Caravaggio, Rembrandt. He himself says: “I want to paint with the lens”.

Cornelia Nauta IN THE COUNTRY THAT MIRRORS YOU

Cornelia Nauta shows photographs inspired by Romantic aesthetics, such as those found in the ideas of Charles Baudelaire, the 19th century Orientalists or the Symbolists. She says: “Romanticism allows an expression of the ego, un étalage du moi. Romantics show not the perfection of human nature, but the shortcomings.
